Zbigniew Nadolski, sports director of Gdynia Half Marathon, is the one to be praised for having Moen on the starting list of the race which is supposed to be a testing ground for 2020 IAAF World Half Marathon Championships in Gdynia.
- It is a big honour for us and I am really glad that Sondre has accepted our invitation. But the elite starting list is much longer than one name and I can promise Sondre will have a few competitors that can get the best out of him. For instance, I strongly believe Marcin Chabowski – currently the best Polish half marathon runner – can put on another great performance, says Nadolski.
Sondre Nordstad Moen is not the first top-tier athlete to race Gdynia Half Marathon. It is worth mentioning former Olympic silver medalist and two-time world champion, Abel Kirui (KEN) took part in the race in 2016. Names of the other elite runners are supposed to be published in the coming weeks.
Gdynia Half Marathon and its side events are scheduled for 15-17 March 2019. Currently, there are 6.500 runners from over 30 countries registered for the mass participation race.
2020 IAAF World Half Marathon Championships will be held in Gdynia on 27-29 March 2020.
