Swietojanska Street, which is one of the most representative spots in Gdynia, is going to be transformed into a gigantic cheering zone, with 10 various cheering points prepared by local school children.

Nearly 7000 athletes will stand on the starting line of the ONICO Gdynia Half Marathon 2017. On Thursday, March 16 the official prerace press conference was held, featuring the organizers and Polish elite athletes - Dominika Nowakowska and Tomasz Grycko.

There are reasons for the organizing team to be optimistic. ONICO Gdynia Half Marathon is one of the most dynamically growing road running events in Poland. The race saw 50% increase in the number of athletes year to year, reaching around 7000 registered runners in the recent days. 

- Certainly, we are more than happy about it. But we also focus on other aspects of the event – mówi Michał Drelich, dyrektor zawodów. - Our goal is to deliver the highest organizational level and provide our athletes and fans with unforgettable experience. That is why we put emphasis on cheering animation as well as live streaming – he adds.

For instance, Swietojanska Street, which is one of the most representative spots in Gdynia, is going to be transformed into a gigantic cheering zone, with 10 various cheering points prepared by local school children who took part in a special contest organized by ONICO Gdynia Half Marathon. Several other cheering areas are going to be located in different parts of the race course.

ONICO Gdynia Half Marathon will take place on March 19, 2017. There are 7000 athletes on the starting list. Kid runs and Fit Living trade fair are going to be held as side events.
